Ani Difranco

Angela Maria Ani DiFranco is an American-Canadian artist and singer. She has more than twenty albums. Her music is classified as folk rock as well as alternative rock, but it also has influences from punk funk hip beat and jazz. Ani DiFranco is frequently regarded as the feminist's icon and Grammy-winning performer, is regarded as the pioneer of DIY music. She was one of the very first musicians to start their own labels in the year 1990. The parents of DiFranco, Elizabeth (Ross), a former student at Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Dante Americo DiFranco met each one another while both attending. Her father was of Italian roots and her mother was born in Montreal. Ani Difrasco wrote and sang the hit song "32 Flavors". The track was released on her fifth studio album Not a Pretty Girl which came out in 1995. The track was included in the soundtrack of the Canadian romantic comedy Better Than Chocolate, released in 1999. DiFranco apologized in 2013 when it was revealed that she was scheduled to hold an event for three days on an Louisiana former slave plantation. The majority of us (including us) did not feel affected by her decision to cancel. DiFranco apologized a couple of days afterward.
